How the work gets quoted, and what is not claimed here

Every quote follows a measure on the roof rather than an estimate from the ground. Slope gets measured in more than one place, deck condition gets assessed wherever it can be seen, and existing ventilation gets calculated against the 1/300 of insulated ceiling area the BC Building Code sets.

The quote then names the assembly rather than just the total: covering product, underlay, where eave and valley protection is placed and how far up the slope it runs, the ventilation target and how it is reached, every flashing detail by location, what happens to the old material, the rate for deck repair beyond what is included, and what is excluded.

Two totals cannot be compared. Two scopes can.

This site publishes no customer reviews, no testimonials and no awards, because none exist yet that could be attributed to a real, named customer. Inventing them is common in this trade and is not done here.

This site also publishes no email address. A form submission reaches a channel that is actually monitored. An inbox nobody watches is worse than no inbox at all, because a lead sent there simply disappears.

Where a figure could not be confirmed against a published source, this site says so. The permits guide marks the City of Parksville row unconfirmed rather than guessing it from a neighbouring jurisdiction, and the cost guide reproduces two published sources with their dates instead of blending them into one number that would look more authoritative than the evidence supports.

Roofer is a Red Seal trade in British Columbia, carrying 4,950 hours of work-based training and 15 weeks of technical training over three years. Roofer is not one of the seven trades that require Skilled Trades Certification, so a roofing certificate is voluntary rather than compulsory, and is worth asking about on any quote.
