Four roof systems, and what the code allows on each
Asphalt, metal and low-slope roofs across the Oceanside coast — assessed on the deck, quoted in writing, and specified against the rainfall, snow and wind loads the BC Building Code sets for this stretch of the Island.
BC Building Code Table 9.26.3.1 sets a minimum slope for every roof covering: 1 in 3 for asphalt shingles in normal application, 1 in 6 by the low-slope method, 1 in 4 for profiled metal roofing, and 1 in 50 for modified bituminous membrane.
